February 2017 Newsletter

Thank you to everyone who came to the Chocolate Sale on Sunday.  We appreciate your support.  We plan to buy many new children’s books with the money raised.  We were pleased to be able to distribute red files for Operation Red File.  For those of you who haven’t heard about this effort, Operation Red File is a plan to distribute a plastic red file to members of the community, especially those who live alone.  Inside the plastic file is a form which can be filled with pertinent medical information like medications and allergies.  The file has magnets on the back to attach to front of a refrigerator.  EMT or emergency responders can easily find the information.  We still have a few files left here at the library.  If you are interested in getting a file, just come ask.  This is a good time to remind you that we are now open until 6 on Wednesday evenings.

We have ordered many new DVD’s.  The titles include; Bridget Jones’s Baby’ Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, the Secret Life of Pets, The Magnificent Seven, Jason Bourne, Miss You Already, Alice Through the Looking Glass, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, Warcraft, Suicide Squad, and The Angry Birds Movie.  We have set up a display for new DVD’s in the main room, next to the New Book section.

We are expecting new books soon.  We have ordered Believarexic by JJ Johnson; Harry Potter and the Cursed Child by J.K. Rowling; Echoes in Death by J.D. Robb; Heartbreak Hotel by Jonathan Kellerman; Hatchet by Gary Paulson; A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles.

The Library Board decided to offer the three replaced computers to any Thayer community organization that may have need of a computer.  The computers will be free and include the CPU, keyboard, and flat-screen Monitor.  If your community organization is interested, contact the library or any library board member.

As always we offer computers, free wi-fi, fax machine, printer/copier, laminating, books, magazines, audio books, DVD’s, and jigsaw puzzles.
