School is out here in Thayer so that means it is time for our Summer Reading Program (SRP).  This year we have both children and adult programs!  We are so excited about this year’s theme of “Build a Better World.”  What a positive message to celebrate this summer.  We will explore building better communities, relationships, bodies, just all kinds of ideas are buzzing around here.  Registration for the program begins May 18, 2017, but anyone can register at any time.  Once a month on the third Thursday at 3 pm, we will have a reading celebration for the children that focuses on the theme.  We ask that children sign up ahead of time because we are limited to just 15 people at each session.

April is a busy publishing month and many of the most popular authors have new books.  Fern Michaels has High Stakes, John Sandford’s newest is Golden Prey, Davis Baldacci wrote The Fix, and Jeffery Deaver is the author of The Burial Hour.  We have some new, highly-recommended books.  Year of Impossible Good-byes by Sook Nyul Choi and Daughters of the Dragon by William Andrews.  These deal with the Japanese occupation of Korea during WWII.  The other is Killers of the Flower Moon:  The Osage murders and the birth of the FBI by David Grann.

We have new DVD’s for our movie fans.  The titles include: Why Him?, Hidden Figures, Collateral Beauty, Sully, Inferno, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, and La La Land.

As always we offer computer access, free wi-fi, printing copying, laminating, fax machine, books, magazines, DVD’s, audio books, meeting room, community bulletin board, and many other services.  Come check us out!
