June 2017 Newsletter

The 2017 Kansas Notable Book Award winners are here!  These 15 books were chosen from a field of over ninety books as the best in Kansas.  All books are about Kansas or are written by Kansans.  Several of the books are non-fiction.  There are two books of poetry, four novels, and one children’s book. A full description of all 15 books would be too lengthy for the newsletter, but we have descriptions of them at the library. We are so excited that we are able to include these special books in our collection.  We can do so because of a grant from the Kansas State Library which is funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services, a Federal organization.  We are so fortunate that these funds exist.

We are also adding new popular books and DVD’s.  The latest ones include Come Sundown by Nora Roberts, Camino Island by John Grisham, Love Story by Karen Kingsbury and The Farmer’s Market Mishap by Wanda Brunstetter.  We also purchased the DVD of the very popular book, The Shack.  We have some new additions to our DVD collection that aren’t really new movies.  Come check them out.

We have another movie night coming up this Friday, June 23rd.  Rain or shine, join us for snacks and a fun movie.  The summer reading program is in full swing for both children and adults.  We have a program for everyone!

As always, we offer computers, printer, copier, fax machine, books, magazines, DVD’s, audio books, laminator, newspapers, free wifi, and air-conditioning!
