September Newsletter

Well, school is back in session, and we can report a terrific Summer Reading Program!  A total of 57 adults and children participated this summer.  Twenty-one of the children reached the goal of reading twenty books this summer.  We are very thankful for the adults who took their time to bring the kids to the library and keep track of the books.  Altogether, the kids read 759 books!

Our new books for this month include a little bit for everyone.  For the readers of mystery and suspense, we have Sue Grafton’s Y is for Yesterday, and Iris Johansen’s Look Behind You.  Readers who prefer a quieter read can enjoy Lauraine Snelling’s The Promise of Dawn or Any Dream Will Do by Debbie Macomber.  Historical fiction fans are in for a treat with Mel Starr’s Chronicles of Hugh de Singleton, Surgeon series.  We have the first four books of the series which is set in 1600’s England.  We are expecting the fifth, The Tainted Coin, any day now.  Sarah Dessen is a very popular author of young adult literature.  Her newest book, Once and for All, is available.  Many people have watched the movie Dunkirk.  We have the non-fiction book by Walter Lord titled The Miracle of Dunkirk:  the True Story of Operation Dynamo.  If you are interested in checking out any of these books, you can always call the library and we will put your name on the list, or you can go on-line to SEKnFind and place a hold.  If you would like information about this option, we can help.

The regular meeting of the library board has been postponed until Monday, September 11, 2017 at 5:30 pm.  Board meetings are held at the Thayer FRC City Library and are open to the public.
