October 2018 Newsletter

Progress continues on our Little Free Library project.  Thanks to everyone who has come to help.  All three of the libraries are together.  We just need to put roofs on them and do the finishing touches.  We hope to have them mounted and placed soon.  Once they are set, the people of Thayer are encouraged to take a book and leave another book.  It is the same concept as our “free book” bench at the library.  Now you can help yourself any time of day or night at any of the three locations.

We have mentioned how fortunate we are to have received funds from the State Library to purchase Kansas Notable Books.  It is time to introduce the books to the Thayer community.  We will have an open house/book talk Monday, October 22nd at 5:30.  We will be serving refreshments.  So come and hear a little about each of these award-winning books.  Remember every book was written by a Kansas author or is about some aspect of Kansas.  These books were also chosen for this award by Kansas readers and the Kansas State Librarian.

October means Halloween!  The plans are already made for the annual Trunk or Treat!  Cars should start arriving on Neosho Street after 5 pm on Wednesday, Oct. 31st.  There will be free food, hot chocolate and Candy!!!  Don’t forget to visit the library.   We have a free book for the first one hundred trick or treaters.  We have candy, too.  This is such a great community event.  Don’t miss it!

We would like to remind everyone of the services offered here at the library.  We have computers, printer/copier/scanner, fax machine, books, interlibrary loans, DVD’s, audio books, and so much more!  If you haven’t been in for a while, you should come check us out!
