A new service will be coming to the library soon. It is a streaming service called Hoopla. Our patrons will be able to download movies, TV shows, music albums, audiobooks, ebooks, and comics to any of their devices. There are 650,000 items available with no holds or waiting times. Patrons will access the service using their library card number. If you no longer have your card or need to sign up for a library card, please come see us at the library. We can get you fixed up and ready for this new service. We are still waiting to find out just when the service will be operational. We will keep you informed. Watch our Facebook page and our website for updates!
November is Kansas Reads to Preschoolers Month. Library staff will be visiting preschools and daycares in and around Thayer to read this year’s pick. We encourage all parents, grandparents, and care providers to read often to the young people in their lives. No baby is too young or no child too old to listen to a story read by a person important in his/her life. Reading to children can have an enormous impact.
We continue working on our Little Free Libraries. They should be ready to mount in the coming weeks. We have piles of books ready to fill them, thanks to generous donations from the community. Soon, you won’t have to wait until the library is open to change the book you have just finished for a different one. We appreciate the support we have received for this project.
After Thanksgiving, we will be setting up the Angel Tree in our main room. We so enjoy hosting this. It is wonderful to see the community support and generosity during the Christmas season. Speaking of the Christmas season, the Thayer Christmas Drawing will be Sunday, December 2nd at 4:15 in the City Building.
We continue to offer the community services we believe help make life easier and more enjoyable; computers, printer, fax machine, books, movies, TV series, magazines, audio books, laminating, and meeting room with computer projector. Visit us soon!
